The Batesville Lady Bulldog cross country team was up early and headed to St. Leon to compete in the East Central Invitational.
The boys varsity opened up the morning as the gun went off to start their race at 9 a.m.
Although there were 13 teams in the race, in the end it was divided by two divisions.
Batesville was in the Division I and totaled a very low score of 16. The girls showed their depth as the decision was made to let our top two runners rest and heal up some slight aches and pains. The Lady Bullldogs stepped up their game and proved how deep we are winning the meet with a near perfect score.
Batesville was led by freshman Ava Hanson who was the overall champion for Division I with a personal best time of 20:42. Just 6 seconds behind at 20:48 was another freshman, Madison Rahschulte, also running a personal best. Rahschulte was followed by teammates Maria Lopez in 4th (21:08), Trysta Vierling (5th, 21:29) and Sophie Myers (7th, 21:29). Also placing in the top 20 were Carley Pride (11th, 22:14), Sarah Ripperger, (13th, 22:26) and Katie Olsen (17th, 22:49).
There was also a JV race today. Although they did not score the race as far as team scores go, they did give awards to the top 10. The girls placed two in the top 10 and they were in spots 6 and 7, Jada Eisert and Hope Kroen.
There were also several personal bests from the morning … Hanson, Rahschulte, Lopez and Pride.
