The junior varsity Lady Bulldogs defeated the South Dearborn Lady Knights Friday evening by a score of 4-3.
The game was tightly contested all night with the Lady Knights striking first in the top half of the second. A single and a walk came around to score when South Dearborn’s nine batter hit a two out double in the gap. The Bulldogs responded in the bottom half with two of their own. Hannah Nunlist led off the inning with a walk and scored on a wild pitch by the South Dearborn pitcher. McKenzie Laker followed suit with a walk and came around to score on an error committed by the Lady Knights. The Lady Knights struck again in the third when a Bulldog error to the leadoff hitter came around to score on a double to the following hitter. The Bulldogs charged back in the bottom half of the third when Gwen Martin hit a double and Chloe Saler followed up with a single the very next pitch to drive her home. Saler came around to score on a wild pitch to push the Bulldogs out to the 4-3 advantage, which they never surrendered.
The Lady Bulldogs were led at the plate by Martin who had two doubles on the evening. Paige Oldham and Saler were the other hits for the Bulldogs with one a piece.
Abby Westerfeld pitched a great game on the mound for the Bulldogs striking out nine Lady Knight hitters, while allowing just four hits.
