It was another brisk evening on the diamond, but Bulldog junior varsity bats caught on fire slugging out 13 hits on the night.
Batesville exploded for 10 runs in the bottom half of the first after Rising Sun pushed one across in their half. The first seven batters of the inning were able to reach base safely to give the Bulldogs a big advantage early. The Bulldogs then added two more runs in the second and six more in the third inning en route to an 18-1 finish.
Paige Oldham led the Bulldogs at the plate with three hits and a walk in four plate appearances. Abby Westerfeld, Gwen Martin, and Chloe Saler each chipped in with two hits a piece while Callie Main, Hannah Nunlist, Ainsley Phipps, and Anna Gerth each had one.
Oldham also led the Bulldogs on the bump going all four innings for the Bulldogs only allowing two hits while striking out five Lady Shiners.
“It was great to see the bats come alive as we have struggled early on,” BHS coach Stacey Kessens. “Looking forward to continuing that momentum into the next game.
“Very fundamental game for the junior varsity squad,” she added
