The Batesville High School varsity boys basketball team claimed its 11th Ripley County title in 12 years by knocking off Milan 65-48 in the championship game Saturday night in Versailles.
The Bulldogs built a slim three point lead by the end of the first quarter. They found more success at the defensive end in the second quarter as the advantage grew to 35-19 by the break. They tacked five points on to the lead by the end of the third quarter.
Coach Aaron Garrett’s crew had four players score in double figures. Trey Heidlage led the balanced attack with 15 points, while Robert Raver, Austin Siefert and RJ Powell each finished with 13. Siefert, Powell, Raver and Tyler Myers each finished the night with three assists. Raver and Myers grabbed six rebounds apiece.
