Adam Moster raced his way to a podium performance at the IHSAA Boys State Track and Field Track meet in Bloomington.
Moster was seeded 21st place out of 27th in the 800m run and ran in the 1st heat (slow heat). The end result was an outstanding effort, which produced an 8th place finish.
“Our plan, going for the school record and winning the heat and see what happens,” BHS head coach Lisa Gausman commented. “He executed the plan perfectly! He sat in about 5th place until about 300m to go and then began to make his move.
“By the time he hit the 200m mark he was heading into first and never looked back. He not only finished first in his heat, but he tied the school’s 800m record at 1:55.02 (shared with Hayden Merkel),” she added.
Moster and his coach then had to wait and see where that time would place him after the 2nd heat (faster heat). When all was finished, his time from the first heat put him in 8th place and a spot on the podium.
