Bulldogs advance with 38-22 win over Charlestown

The Batesville Bulldogs advanced to the second round of Sectional No. 31 with a 38-22 victory over visiting Charlestown.
The Bulldogs scored early on a 13 yard run by quarterback Trey Heidlage at the 9:09 mark in the first quarter. Nate Slavin added the extra point to put BHS on top 7-0.
The PIrates took a brief 8-7 lead before the Bulldogs added three scores in the second quarter to take a 24-8 lead into intermission. Heidlage and Austin Siefert connected on a 30 pass play for one touchdown and Heidlage ran one yard for another. Slavin kicked a 28 yard field goal in the closing seconds of the half to give the Bulldogs a16 point lead.
Charlestown countered with a touchdown at 3:44 in the third quarter only to have the Bulldogs answer on the kick off. Siefert returned the kick 93 yards and Slavin added the extra point to make the score 31-16.
Batesville’s final scored of the game was an 11 yard run by Christian Prickel.
The Bulldogs will next be in action Friday, Oct. 27, at North Harrison. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
