The Lady Bulldogs ended the season with a second place finish at the EIAC tourney.
After defeating Greensburg (25-18. 25-18) and Franklin County (25-15, 25-23) in the first two matches, they were plagued with unforced mistakes at the net falling to host East Central (19-25, 17-25).
In the opener against Greensburg, defensive specialists Lily Abplanalp and Maggie Walsman each scored 9 points including 2 aces to lead the team. There was a balanced offensive attack with Kelsey Shupe, Anna Bauer, and Margaret Weisbrod all earning 5 kills. Tori Kurtz had 3 stuff blocks.
In the Franklin County game, Monica Gerstbauer had 7 points and perfect service on her 11 attempts. Kurtz and Shupe led with 8 kills each at the net. Gerstbauer dished out 18 assists as the team’s setter. Abplanalp was the leader in serve receptions and digs with 10 in each category.
In their final game of the season vs. East Central, the team couldn’t match the level of play they had in their previous matches with their rival. Bauer was the top server with 5 points on 9 attempts. Abplanalp excelled in the back row again with 13 good serve receptions.
The team finished with an outstanding 20-3 record for the season.
