Batesville High School
Franklin County High School
The Batesville Lady Bulldogs finished their regular season with an 8-1 victory on Thursday night as they traveled to Franklin County.
Batesville dominated the possession throughout the game, but Franklin County did a nice job keeping the ball out of the net for the first 20 minutes of the game. Despite having multiple shots and chances on goal, it took Batesville 19 minutes to break through and score.
Denise Davalos netted her third goal of her freshman season off an assist from Liz Heidlage on a corner kick. Just two minutes later, Ashlyn Czerniak finished a great cross from Taylor Rowlett for the second goal of the match. The Lady Bulldogs would add one more to take a 3-0 lead into halftime. This time it was Georgia Gratz scoring off another assist from Rowlett.
In the second half, Batesville scored early and often to run the score up to 7-0 just 10 minutes into the second half. Marigrace Anderson scored the 4th goal of the match after a nice assist from Heidlage. Gratz would score three straight goals for the Lady Bulldogs. The first two goals came off assists from Anderson, while the third came off an assist from Carlie Werner after her shot bounced off the crossbar and Gratz was there for the rebound.
The Lady Wildcats drew a foul deep in Batesville territory and converted the free kick into the far side net to bring the score to 7-1. Franklin County would draw a penalty kick just a few minutes later, but the attempt bounced off the post and out as the defense came in to clear it out.
Batesville’s eighth goal came with 18:32 to play in the game. This time it was Lauren Gutzwiller connecting on a pass from Callie Main for Gutzwiller’s 4th goal of the season.
