Batesville High School
East Central High School
âThe Batesville junior varsity volleyball team battled East Central to the end, but fell just short with scores 21-25, 25-19, 14-15.
It was a back and forth match most of the way with the Lady Bulldogs getting out to a 6-2 lead in the third set. A couple of untimely missed serves killed momentum as the Trojans mounted a comeback. Despite this, the team regrouped and was serving for the win. A well placed attack by EC finished the match.
Lily Abplanalp led the team in service points (8) and serve reception (10) from her libero position. Tori Kurtz was the top performer at the net with 8 kills and 2 stuff blocks. Margaret Weisbrod was also strong in the front line with 5 kills in 13 attempts. Caitlyn Broering had timely hits to earn 4 kills, while Kelsey Shupe’s aggressive swings netted her 4 kills in the front row.
The team is now 12-2.
