Meet Recap

It was a pretty perfect morning for a cross county meet on Saturday and Batesville got to compete at the 25 team Ben Davis Invitational in Indianapolis.

It was a beautiful morning and the Bulldogs took advantage of not only the weather, but being able to complete against some big schools with tons of competition, according to coach Lisa Gausman.

Batesville ended the morning with 17 runners racing a personal record and many dropping their time by over 30 seconds. Although overall it may not seem to many that the Bulldogs performed well placing 13th (boys) and 14th (girls) overall, but this was not a meet that was divided into divisions or classes. It was a straight up meet of 25 teams with more than half of the schools we competed against were 5A schools. The varsity races had over 160 runners in each race, where the JV races were over 300 runners.

Top runners for the Bulldogs in the boys varsity race with all seven of them running a personal best time was: Adam Moster (16:58-37th), Joshua Myers (17:14-49th), Dillon Murray (17:39-67th), Chris Laymon (17:47-76th), John Thompson (18:34-107th), Nathan Eckstein (18:38-108th) and Charlie Laymon (18:41-110th).

The girls didn’t have all seven run an overall personal best, but most was their best time of the season. Those running for Batesville in the varsity race were Liz Loichinger (19:50-PR-25th), Haylee Harymeyer (20:11-PR-37th), Emma Gausman (20:20-46th), Audrey Maupin (21:31-PR-99th), Trysta Vierling (22:07-PR-115th), Audrey Weigel (22:25-125th) and Cheyenne Laker (23:41-144th).

Again the junior varsity races had well over 300 runners in each of the races and the boys placed 14th as the girls place 15th. Top runners for the boys in this race were: Luke Esser (19:02-PR), Garrett Wagner (19:11-PR), Adam Hollowell (19:56-PR), Kaleb McBeath (20:47) and finishing out the top 5, Nathan Vallani (21:14-PR) Also running a personal best in the boys JV race was Luke Nuhring.

In the girls JV race, they placed 15th and only had 5 girls to run it, so all 5 were vital in scoring for the Bulldogs. Leading the girls JV race for Batesville and running a personal best was Lexie Huber (23:15), she was followed by Ava Ralston, Carly Fitzpatrick, Kate Poltrack (running a personal best) and our fifth girl, Hannah Canady.
