Batesville High School
Lawrenceburg High School
When the ISCA polls came out on Monday, the Batesville Lady Bulldogs found themselves sitting at #1 in the Class 2A poll. With a target on their backs, the Batesville Lady Bulldogs improved to 8-0 with an impressive win over a good Lawrenceburg team on Tuesday night. It was a physical, back-and-forth battle all game long but Batesville was able to walk away with a 2-1 victory. Hailey Mohr notched her first goal of the season in timely fashion. Mohr came off the bench at the 28 minute mark and began immediately making a mark on the game with possession and opportunities on goal. In a great combination of 1-touch and 2-touch passes, the Lady Bulldogs worked their way into Lady Tiger territory and Taylor Rowlett made the final pass to Mohr where she ripped a 1-touch shot up and over the keeper. With a 1-0 lead, Batesville had a couple more good chances on goal but could not play add-on in the first half. Lawrenceburg capitalized late in the halfwith a nice cross by Jenna Farmer and a header finish from Rylie Hutcherson. Batesville outshot Lawrenceburg 10-8 in the first half.
Shots were few and far between in a defensive battle throughout the second half. Batesville outshot the Lady Tigers in the second half 4-3. Molly Wintz was aggressive in goal and shut down all the opportunities for Lawrenceburg. Bre Moman’s speed was uncontested on the sidelines as she stopped numerous runs on the right side of our defense throughout the match and also jump-started our offense on big defensive stops. Taylor Rowlett was able to net the game-winner for the Lady Bulldogs with 24 minutes remaining in the match. It was Rowlett’s 13th goal of her senior season.
