Game Recap

The Batesville High School freshman football team opened the season with a 26-6 win at home against the Jennings County Panthers.

Jacob Cruse started the scoring on a 26 yard TD run. Special teams scored next when Hank Nobbe blocked a punt and Drew Kiefer scooped up the ball and ran it in from the 17 yard line to give Batesville a 12-0 halftime lead.

Cruse scored again in the second half on a 5 yard pass from Brayden Linkel. Isaiah Riffle ran in the two-point conversion. The last score came on a 14 yard run around the left end by Linkel.

On defense, Linkel and Alex Smith had interceptions and John Thompson added a blocked punt. Riffle, Kiefer and Nick Nobbe also played well for the defense.
