The Batesville High School junior varsity baseball team defeated the Greensburg Pirates by a score of 8-5.
The two teams passed the lead back and forth seven times on Monday, but in the end the Bulldogs pulled out the victory.
The Bulldogs had a strong seventh inning. A passed ball scored Jacob Speckman and Kyle Siefert to give the Bulldogs the lead for good.
Caleb Raab got on base three times in the game for the Bulldogs. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the fourth inning.
Corbyn Lewis got the win in relief for Batesville. Lewis pitched two innings and allowed one run.
Batesville jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. A double by Raab plated Logan Mears to start off the inning.
Greensburg quickly answered with a one-run inning of its own in the first.
Batesville went up for the duration of the game after the seventh inning. Additional runs came from a sacrifice fly by Mears and an RBI single by Speckman.
