Batesville avenged their loss to South Ripley in the Ripley County Tournament with a victory over the host Lady Raiders Thursday evening.
“It still wasn’t pretty … we had some errors, massive point swings, moments of indecision, but the girls showed a resiliency on defense we have been missing for a few weeks,” BHS coach Jody Thomas commented. “South Ripley has some great athletes and throw up a big block, but we practiced out of system play all week and defending the block and it came out in the game.”
The Lady Bulldogs were victorious 25-21. 26-28, 20-25, 25-22 and 15-8.
It was a big night statistically for some. Meg Reidy led the team in kills with 19 followed closely by Rachel Gerstbauer with 16. Morgan Meyer was also in double-digits with 11. Kylie Paul and Sophia Fledderman shared team high honors with 11 service points. Defensively, Meyer and Paul were credited with 22 and 20 digs, respectively.
