Bulldogs News · BHS scores early and goes on to beat North

The Batesville Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead on North Decatur and captured a 12-2 victory in varsity baseball action on Thursday at Liberty Park.

The Bulldogs set the tone with nine runs in the first three innings.

A RBI single by Connor Schuck, a steal of home by Zach Britton, and a fielder’s choice during the first inning produced runs. A two-run home run by Britton highlighted the second inning.

Britton had a big night at the plate with three extra-base hits for the Bulldogs. He also scored three times and had two RBI.

Senior pitcher Brett Westerfeld got the start on the mound. Westerfeld held North Decatur hitless over four innings. He allowed one earned run, walked six and struck out four in four innings of work. Schuck pitched the final inning in relief.

Britton, Jacob Wilson, Leo Enneking and Schebler helped lead the Bulldogs. They combined for 10 of the team’s 14 hits. Wilson was 3-for-3 at the plate, while Enneking and Schebler each had two hits.
